Bluedeathvalley.com: Why did you decide to join Golden Delight? Keyanda: I first saw Golden Delight perform at the Fish Bowel Classic against Norfolk State in 2004. When I saw them marching in the stands to P-Funk after a killer halftime show I knew that I had to be a part of this group. What is the most rewarding thing about being a Golden Delight dancer? Keyanda: Saturday! We spend so much time rehearsing and creating routines, it is just great to see the outcome of all our hard work. When alumni and classmates come up to you saying, “Golden Delight was great”, and when the 5th Quarter website has nothing but good comments we know we have done our job and its all worth the hard work. Is there any truth about the reported feud between you guys and Blue Reign? Keyanda: Golden Delight and Blue Reign are a part of the same entity: North Carolina A&T State University. There is no reason for any type of feud between the two; we are two separate squads that do two different things. We are both members of the Aggie Pride Nation and we support one another. So the answer to this question is a definite NO! Do you ever get nervous performing in front of a crowd? Keyanda: Always. You never know what might happen when you get on the field but I usually just have to take a second to breathe and not over-think things. Once I hit the field it just feels natural. In your opinion, what makes someone beautiful? Keyanda: Beauty starts from within. If the most beautiful person on the outside is the ugliest person on the inside then their beauty is not worth much at all. What type of guy will it take to win your heart? Keyanda: A guy who is doing something productive with himself and has goals worth reaching. A guy who is well-mannered, charming and will let me have my way at least 75 percent of the time. Basically, a guy who knows how to treat a woman.
Keyanda: The ideal, perfect date would be one that has no price attached, like a picnic on the beach under the stars. I’m not a girl who cares too much about how much money a man has, but instead how much of his heart he is willing to give to me. How are you going to celebrate homecoming this year? Keyanda: All my friends from back home are coming to see me perform and then of course we are going out somewhere. What are your plans after graduating from A&T? Keyanda: I plan on going to law school to study media law and become an entertainment lawyer. Soon after that, I also hope to start my own chain of non-profit recreation centers for small communities. How would you describe the honor of being selected to be the first ever Blue Death Valley Girl? Keyanda: I am so excited. I feel really lucky to have been chosen at all and I would have never guessed I'd be chosen first. I’m so honored and very thankful. Thanks Bluedeathvalley.com!
